Why This Reference Exists
Indiana makes defined arrest and jail facts available under its public-records law, but the records are split among offices. The Shelby County Sheriff's Department creates and maintains the county booking file and runs the current-custody route for the Shelby County Jail. Shelbyville, Edinburgh, and Morristown police keep municipal reports. Indiana MyCase and the Shelby County Clerk hold the case trail after booking. The Indiana Department of Correction has a separate offender search for people who enter state prison custody. This site explains those boundaries, links to the official sources, and describes focused records requests when no online archive exists.
What Readers Can Find
The content is organized around the source that can answer each records question.
- The home page covers the county roster, booking facts, record and photo requests, court follow-up, and recent-arrest fallback.
- Most Wanted Fugitives explains the absence of an official county list and gives the safe MyCase, Clerk, Sheriff, and attorney paths for a warrant concern.
- Crime News separates first-party releases and local reporting from unofficial booking publishers.
- Three city pages explain each police department's records process and the correct jail-booking route.

Search Partner Disclosure
Some pages contain search tools supplied by outside providers. Those providers control their results and any price they charge. If a visitor follows a tool to a paid signup, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support free access to the editorial material. The arrangement does not make partner results official, and it does not change the need to verify information with the government office that created it.
